Music Video analysis

The first video i'm analysing is Red Hot Chilli Pepper's video to 'Dani Caliafornia'.

'Dani Caliafornia' is a concept/performance video, and is quite interesting to watch because it features the band imitating some of the most iconic bands ever like The Beatles, Nirvana, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and others. The frontman, Flea said that through the video they weren't actually imitating the bands, but wanted to show the different eras to the revoluation of rock music; rockabilly, punk, grunge, psychedelia etc.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers do this through the use of costumes and make-up that each different band were known for.

The second video is Elbow's video 'One day like this'.

This video is a concept video, and features a man approaching a busy junction and holding a promotional arrow which says, 'Condo's now selling'. Throughout the video he spins and turns the arrow many times, making anyone looking at it confused as to where these condos are being sold, which makes it confusing. Perhaps Elbow is highlighting the idea about false advertisement.
The focus is on this man throughout and looks very natural and realistic, as there isn't costume changes, big dance scenes, or numerous locations.

The final video i'm analysing is Beyonce's '1+1'.
This is a performance video and is almost entirely made up of close-ups of Beyonce singing. Alot of special effects are used which give off quite a mystical, magical feeling. As the song is a love song, its focused on Beyonce's emotions throughout and her facial expressions portrays this. There's a moment at 2:31 there's a close-up of Beyonce where we see her crying, which portrays how emotional and perhaps personal this song is to Beyonce.
