When? do you have a daily music routine? Is some music more suitable at a certain time of day than another?
The radio is always on during the mornings, and I mostly listen to Radio One. Music is also playing most of the time when driving in the car, aswell as travelling in genreal, whether that be walking or on a train where I'll listen to my Ipod. If i'm doing work at school or home i'll listen to my Ipod too.
Where? clubs, bedroom, gigs, car?
I consume music in lots of different places, like all the examples above and whilst travelling around aswell. I listen to a lot of music channels on the telly at home where I watch music videos aswell.
Who with? do you share your music or is it an individual experience?
I go to gigs with friends so share music in that sense, aswell as driving in a car or listening to music in my room or friend's before we're going out. However, music is also an individual experience too because I listen to my Ipod a lot on my own.
How? radio, computer, ipod, tv, live, dancing, homework, getting ready ie doing other things - background wallpaper
I listen to music through the radio, telly, my Ipod, laptop, live and also there is a lot of background music I hear on a daily basis that I don't choose to listen to but it's just on.
Why? What are the pleasures associated with music consumption? What does it offer the audience and what needs does it gratify?
I think music consumption gratifies a lot of needs such as escapism from daily life to relax or to change your mood to make you feel more uplifted. Whilst travelling by yourself, music helps to pass time and I also feel that when listening to the radio, the conversations between the DJ's in between playing music makes you as a listener feel involved with what's going on not just in the world of music but by listening to the snippets of news. Music I think is also consumed to get you in the right mood to go out for the night, or simply to wake you up in the morning whilst getting ready.
I use music to gratify my needs as a consumer on a daily basis, and I feel that music, wherever i'm listening to it and however i'm listening to it, plays a big part in my life.
