What music means to me

Song from my early childhood:
Ricky Martin, ‘Livin La Vida Loca’
I remember absolutely loving this song when I was really young, and would always sing along and dance to it when I was little. Part of me still likes this song, and whenever I hear it it just reminds me of my childhood and I can’t not sing along. I remember having it on one of those Now 60 CD’s, and I would constantly listen to it on my CD player, and it just makes me remember of when I was a young girl and would drive my family mad by constantly listening to it.

Song from my teens:
Faithless, ‘Insomnia’
My dad showed me this song and it’s his favourite song of all time. He told me how he saw them in Ibiza when he was a lot younger, and he plays this song on car journeys on repeat for hours. I began to really get into Faithless about 2 years ago, and whenever I hear this song it just reminds me of my dad. I saw Faithless on one of their farewell shows in April with a friend and it was such an amazing night, and this song particular was amazing to see live. I rang my dad when it began, and he was so jealous of me going, but this song really is one I’ll always love.

Song that means a lot to me today:
Red Hot Chilli Peppers, ‘Dani Caliafornia’
I’ve always loved Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and when I listen to this song it makes me think about the summer, and it’s like the perfect song for a road trip. I think songs like this, that are really uplifting make you want to listen to them again and again, and make you realise how much music can change your mood, or inspire you to want to do different things in your life, and I think this song is perfect for that.
